Blurb Writing
Book blurbs are your back cover promotional details that tell readers what the book is about. It’s these short descriptions that should pique readers’ curiosity, hold onto their interest, and ultimately sell your book when they have no choice but to figure out what happens.
But condensing your book down into 200 words or less is easier said than done.
At one point, you’ve probably found yourself wondering…why are book blurbs so hard to write?
1. Blurbs utilize a marketing skillset.
That’s right! They hardly have anything to do with writing or writing skills at all.
2. It’s all about selling, not summarizing.
A blurb’s purpose is to sell, hence why the blurb is more about understanding your audience and what will convince them to buy your book.
3. There’s generally a specific formula.
And if you don’t know it, you risk not including the important information.

It’s exquisite to see, that something so beautiful, shrouded and hidden by darkness, can still shine bright.
One hundred and fifty years ago the Fae race vanished. Along with their magic and creatures. With the fallen Fae lands the humans were soon to follow as corruption spread throughout the realm. Heir to the throne, Delilah Covington is forced to watch her people suffer under the sinful hands of her father, the king—while she herself suffers his cruel hand. Delilah has longed for change, her prayers going unanswered until she discovers salvation.
Fae are alive.
In desperation, Delilah flees her home and crosses the border, in hopes that the Fae will save her people. Yet she isn’t the only one who needs help.
Caught in a web of lies and riddles Delilah’s only chance at hope is Knox, one of the irritating, yet frustratingly charming Fae kings. Together they’ll need to unravel the many mysteries to bring freedom to both their oppressed people, or damn them all.

A century ago, an exchange was proposed: a life saved for a war of revenge.
For Captain Lia Solus of the fae army, and the secret bastard daughter of the king, she’s reminded of those consequences daily. Unable to claim her heritage or her throne, she’s powerless to stop the innocent bloodshed that her birth ushered in.
On the other side of the lines, Commander Jace Cadoria gladly fights the war of his ancestors to slaughter the fae who have terrorized the humans of their realm for generations. And with a cunning plan to trap them, the end could finally be in sight. Except it quickly spirals out of control, leaving Lia and Jace, enemies of opposite sides, stranded together in a dangerous terrain.
Engaged in an intimate battle of their own, both warring to take control, they’ll need their wits now more than ever to survive. Because this fight could cost their lives—and their hearts.
“I don’t know where I would be without Makenna and her blurb service! She takes the guesswork out of what to write for my blurbs. She knows just what to write to pull the readers in and to also give an accurate description of your book. Since I’ve found her, I won’t do my blurbs any other way!”

In an arena of death, it is not what you hope to win—but what you are willing to lose.
Before she could even rule, war stole Elara’s kingdom and her freedom. To claim it back, she must risk it all within the Pit: a series of brutal tournaments held by her captor, King Theron. But just surviving might be even harder than winning, especially when her only ally here is her enemy.
Rook, Prince of the Night Demons, hates everything about Elara and the Fae, the ones who abandoned him and his people during the Uprising years ago. Now enslaved to Theron, he’s instructed to prepare Elara for the Pit, though the only thing he wants is to see her dead.
As the trials become more twisted, with just each other to turn to for comfort, a strange attraction brings them closer together. But looming revelations of the Uprising could shatter everything they thought they knew about themselves and their world. And in such a compassionless place as the Pit, fighting for love may be the hardest challenge yet.
